FROM HARVARD TO GLOBAL - How to get the world’s largest country knocking on your door?

Back when I was at college (oh wait, I still am), I was assigned the task of creating a blog, with the first topic being none other than Facebook.

I remembered thinking to myself, how ironic is it that we’re at college learning about a platform created by….wait for it….a Harvard dropout. Even more ironic is the fact that it is almost impossible to gain useful employment without a college degree, yet over 3 million companies, as stated by Meta, actively advertise on a platform owned by the same guy 🧐

Don't get me wrong, there was a time, some 16 or so years ago, when I actually enjoyed using Mark Zuckerberg’s creation, but ever since Instagram came along, I have to admit, I was one of those that gave Facebook the boot . That was of course until I started offering Social Media Marketing as a service, and let’s just say I am reluctantly back on.

So what makes this platform different from others?

Well for starters, it has been ranked the number one social media platform in the world, with over 3 billion users, which is almost half of the world’s total population. In other words, Facebook is bigger than most countries, including the United States, if we are basing this on population size alone.

Added to that is the fact that it has become an expected part of life, much like having an email or even a phone number. Facebook has become so popular, that other websites have gone as far as to integrate it, making it almost impossible to access their information without a Facebook account.

Now this may seem scary to the average individual (much like myself) who considers privacy to be a modern day luxury. However for a business, having a Facebook account is like hitting gold. I mean name a company that doesn’t want direct access to over 3 billion people in one meeting place? I’ll wait! 💅🏼

The reality is, what started off as a platform to connect with friends and share photos, has now become one of the main advertising and marketing tools used by businesses across the globe. So much so that it is almost impossible for a business to survive or thrive without a Facebook account.

So how exactly can a business utilize Facebook to advertise? In under 8 minutes, Jamal Meneide from Hubspot Marketing will tell you how.

Now for the easy part. Hiring your first social media marketer 🙂
